Monkey Temples
Long-tailed macaques live on several of the busiest temples. Angkor Wat, Bayon, the stairs of Phnom Bakheng, and the forest edge at Ta Prohm are the reliable places in Siem Reap. Wat Phnom in Phnom Penh has its own troop in the gardens. They take food, snatch glasses, and bite. Do not feed them, keep snacks in a closed bag, and hold children on the inside of the path. The monkeys are not a temple theme the builders intended. They are what happens when a ruin sits next to a town.
