Nicknames and famous highlights
History and architecture
Wat Ek Phnom pairs two eras on one site. The sandstone temple is attributed to the early 11th century and Suryavarman I. Its central tower is split and leaning, and the lintels still show Hindu scenes. Beside it, a 20th-century vihara with a painted interior serves the present Theravada community. The contrast is the visit. The compound is about 12 kilometers north of Battambang, so it is slightly closer to Siem Reap than the city itself. A small local fee is collected. The Angkor Pass does not apply.
