History and architecture

Phnom Bok completes the triangle of hill shrines Yasovarman I used to mark Yasodharapura, together with Phnom Bakheng and Phnom Krom. The towers are ruined Trimurti shrines of about 900, in the same style as Phnom Krom. Few visitors make the trip because the temple is east of the baray on a laterite hill and there is little shade. That emptiness is the attraction. It is an Angkor Pass site. Ask the driver about the road before you commit in the rainy season.
